 Colleges, get out your paintbrushes.

An NBA-style no-charge zone has been approved for Division I basketball starting in the 2011-12 season, the NCAA announced Thursday. The rules change had been suggested by the men's basketball rules committee following its annual meeting, but it required final approval by the NCAA's Playing Rules Oversight Panel.

The no-charge zone will extend 3 feet from the center of the basket, which is smaller than the NBA's no-charge area.

Teams in Division II and Division III were given a one-year delay in implementing the change.

In women's basketball, the 3-point line will be moved back to 20 feet, 9 inches, which is the standard in the men's game. That means those floors that have been home to both men's and women's games no longer must contain multiple 3-point lines.
